A Peep in to My Book-Shelf

"Whatever can be said or written by me about the book - 'Autobiography of a Yogi', will seem little. I consider the opportunity of reading this book nothing less than a divine favor. And in those days, even my circumstances turned mysteriously in a way that I got to read its later half of this book in the midst of Nainital hills (right in the lap of 'Ranikhet')......as if I was getting even closer to the book's spirit and also near to the chain of great 'Gurus' extolled in its pages."
My gratefulness to the divinity and also to my learned friend, Mr. Kaushal Goyal, who introduced me to this book one day."
(with my experience, as possibly best put in words)
"The most mysterious books have come in my life as mysteriously. About this too, I had no slightest of idea before. 'Yoga Vasistha' is generally believed to be not for everyone. ...May be true; but only for so long as one doesn't want to know the sublime truths of existence and creation. Going by the pages I came to know some astonishing facts. First, this book is as ancient as written by Sage Valmiki himself in 30,000 Sanskrit verses. (What you see here is a wonderful English Translation by Swami Venkatesananda). Second, only inside the book it has been revealed that its real name is 'Maharamayana'. Third, this book gives you understand what actually made Rama the God. I have not yet come across any higher teaching of human life than in this book."

"I take no pride in reading Bhagavad Gita since my childhood if I did not understand much from it. Shown in the picture is one book - 'The Essence of the Bhagavad Gita', which for the first time did connect me to the divine originality of ancient Hindu scripture. For me coming across this book, which for that matter relates to the family of 'Autobiography of A Yogi', was no less than a miracle once again. I saw the book but didn't purchase it; and even forgot the name in aloofness. The only thing I remembered was its blue color artistic cover. By grace of God and with help of my said friend Mr. Kaushal Goyal, this book came back to me only within a week. I can't describe in words, how wonderful my days went while going through the experience of reading and understanding this gem of a book."

"God Talks with Arjuna' is the book which Sri Paramhansa Yogananda wrote in his twilight years. Such a matchless scholar of Bhagavad Gita he was, that his profundity reflects upon the readers in marvel. This books comprises two volumes and is stirring at its every page. At the time of writing on this page, I was not able to complete the book; but also that, it was the first time in my life I was neither thinking about finishing it. Reading this book has become such a magical experience that finishing has never been on mind. One can imagine the depth gone in to this timeless work, that only first verse of the first chapter of Bhagavad Gita has been explained by Sri Paramhansa Yogananda in more than forty full pages. I think I am too little to even praise this book perfectly."

"Politics apart, I have strongly maintained this view that Mahatma Gandhi was the noblest person of our age. I put him next to Rama, Allah and Christ. And even in politics, he was not failure. Failure were us, who couldn't live the highest ideals set by him by his own examples.
A rainy morning, during Delhi World Book Fair 2013 when I was trying to show my own book to a bent-back visitor of 75 years, he surprisingly turned out to be a renowned Gandhian. As we started taking interest in each other's talk, I revealed to him that I had read 'The Story of My experiment with Truth'. That legendary man, whose name I still remember as Mr. Harishchandra Tyagi, then referred me this book. Ever since I have read it, I've grown that Louis Fischer has done a lot better job than Mahatma Gandhi himself on his life."

"I can honestly recall, I did not know the splendor of this book unless I had read it myself. Truthful works never go futile. Chapter by chapter I was finding the book grounded in reality, yet citing in parallel the mystical sages around the Himalayas. This is the book which convinced me that there is not much difference between those living in the caves and other those in the plains (householders like me). The most pleasant surprise for me was a real photograph of eternal Baba Ji of Himalayas', named as 'Hariakhan Baba' printed in it. The story which I read years before in Autobiography of A Yogi, had landed in this book now."

"Have you ever heard anyone tested the hard core spiritual principles in his own practical life? This and that was why M. K. Gandhi became Mahatma. He wrote 'Anasakti Yoga' in Gujrati, which was later translated in to English by his fellow man. My experience with this book became particularly enlightening after I had read Louis Fischer's work mentioned above. In his interpretation of Bhagavad Gita's verses, Mahatma Gandhi has been honest and harsh as well at times."
